The Oil Spill Recovery Institute’s Advisory Board invites applications for individuals to serve as at-large members of the OSRI Board. OSRI’s mission is to support research, education, and demonstration projects that improve understanding and response to oil spills in the Arctic and sub-Arctic marine environment.
The Board meets at least twice each year for one day in Cordova in the fall and one day in winter in Anchorage. The responsibilities of each member include attending Board meetings and teleconferences, reviewing the annual work plan and budget, participating in debates and articulating justifications for opinions and comments in support or dissent of the Board decisions. Members are expected to recuse themselves from opinions where conflicts of interests occur.
Applicants must be residents of communities that were affected by the Exxon Valdez oil spill who are knowledgeable about the marine environment and wildlife of that region. The at-large members serve two-year terms and may reapply to serve again.
The OSRI strategic and research plans and information about the research programs funded by OSRI are posted at its website.
The deadline for applications is Friday, January 21, 2022. To submit an application, send a letter of interest, and if available a short-resume detailing the nominee’s qualifications to:
