Background

The “Field Guide for Oil Spill Response in Arctic Water” was developed, in 1998 by Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response (EPPR) program of the Arctic Council with support from OSRI. The Field Guide provides specific courses of action for emergency situations.

Approach

In 2016 OSRI began supporting the update of the Field Guide. The updates incorporated findings from new research, added sections on wildlife and human health and safety. It was also reorganized to make it more cohesive, less repetitive, and therefore more useful.
