Arctic Cod 2
Louise Copeman, Oregon State University Contract Term: 10/01/18-09/31/19
Award: $84,135
Award: $84,135
Scope of Work:
This is a large collaborative project between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Alaska Fisheries Science Center & Northwest Fisheries Science Center) and the Norwegian Institute for Marine Research. We have asked Oil Spill Recovery Institute (OSRI) to support the Oregon State University component of the budget. This component will support the completion of lipid analyses on the acute and latent effects of oil exposure on Arctic cod lipid physiology. In addition to chemical analyses of new and archived samples, we are asking for OSRI to support Dr. Copeman’s time towards the completion of peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts.
Year 1 - FY 19:
- Dr. Copeman and her research staff at OSU will analyze samples from no observable effect dosage experiments using Arctic cod embryos. Experiments will be performed in the winter of 2019 and Oregon State will receive samples in the spring of 2019. All 2019, exposures will be performed by NOAA personnel using NOAA/ARD funding.
- Dr. Copeman and her research assistants will perform lipid analyses on archived overwintering Arctic cod samples. Overwintering physiology experiments were previously completed in the winter of 2017.
- Dr. Copeman will lead a peer-reviewed article
