Request for proposals
The Oil Spill Recovery Institute (OSRI) in Cordova, Alaska seeks to support an internship project that addresses issues connected with our mission. Our mission is to support research, education, and demonstration projects that improve our understanding of and response to marine oil spills in the Arctic and Subarctic. We seek proposals to fund an internship project with a clear connection to OSRI’s mission from organizations with compatible missions. The proposal for intern support must clearly identify how that internship will provide experience connected to OSRI’s mission. We are interested in diversifying the future workforce in oil spill response-related fields by providing this internship opportunity to high school or undergraduate students. We are looking for proposals that aim to include students from rural communities in Alaska, Alaska Native students, or students from other groups that are traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields. The intern is to be hosted by the proposing organization and is expected to provide a brief report about how their internship provided an experience relevant to OSRI’s mission. Proposals for up to $15,000 to support an internship for at least six weeks will be accepted. For detailed information about OSRI, our mission, and our research plan please go to OSRI.us.
All proposals must link the internship activities to OSRI’s mission and goals. A description of OSRI and our mission and goals is at OSRI.us. Grant application materials can be found at https://osri.us/projects/grant-policy-manual/ with appendices D and F of the highest importance. OSRI has a single application form for all size grants but does not expect that all areas within the application form will be relevant to every request for proposals. The deadline for submitting applications is January 13, 2023. Applications should be emailed to email@example.com. Funding is anticipated to begin as early as April 1, 2023. Applicants are encouraged to contact Dr. Scott Pegau, OSRI Research Program Manager (firstname.lastname@example.org), with any questions regarding this opportunity.
